IVF
I was 42 and trying to get pregnant for the first time. My husband and I went to a well known and highly regarded infertility clinic in central New Jersey, and after an initial consult and a few tests, we were crushed to hear the opinion that we would never have a baby unless I used donor eggs. My FSH numbers were too high and I was simply too old, I was told, and they would not even attempt an IVF cycle if we didn’t agree to a donor. I knew we needed help, but I wasn’t ready to give up on having a biological child without at least trying IVF. During this time I also decided to take every step I could to improve my state of being and therefore improve my chances to become pregnant. Chinese Acupuncture gave me hope, and their approach to my treatment demonstrated a level of care and concern that I hadn’t yet experienced. They asked many more questions than the IVF doctors had asked – about my cycle, my body’s behavior, and my day to day environment – and each week treatment was specific to me and my precise issues.
I found a new and very special infertility center in New York, and for three months I commuted several times a week in the early morning for tests and treatments, juggling the near-daily trip with my full time job. Through this stressful time, I was able to maintain a happy attitude and a positive outlook, due in no small part to the wonderfully personal feedback and coaching and the expert acupuncture that I had come to rely on. I had the incredibly good fortune to become pregnant in my first round of IVF, and I continued my acupuncture treatments throughout my first trimester in order to create the best possible environment for this precious baby to grow and thrive. My husband and I are now the extremely proud parents of a beautiful, healthy baby girl! We are profoundly grateful. Thank you!
